CANAAN COMMUNITY INFORMATION
2021 YEAR THEME AND VERSE
As we begin our Year of Trusting God we are joining together in corporate fasting and prayer. Every Wednesday we ask that you deny yourself if something physically (food, drink, entertainment or something else important to you) from 6am-6pm. At 12:00 every Wednesday we are stopping to pray that God would change our prayers to 3 simple words, “We trust God”. If you would like to join us the Zoom link will be open from 12-12:30pm for prayer and it would be great to have you join. We are praying that we will trust God with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge Him so that He will direct our paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
PASTORAL TRANSITION & PLANNING
It has become clear through much prayer and discernment that my time as the senior pastor of Canaan Community Church is coming to an end. I have been connected to this amazing congregation for the last 20 years and have served in pastoral leadership for 15 years of my life and don’t expect that connection to ever cease.
However, as of January 2021, Pastor Chris Ferrill has assumed the mantle of co-pastor with me until June, when I will officially step away. I will continue to support Canaan in every way possible and will be a support for Chris and his family as they step in and lead the church into its next season of ministry.
As of January 2021, I also joined the pastoral team oF Lawndale Community Church as an assistant pastor and will move into a co-pastor role with Pastor as of July 2021 to begin the succession process and ultimately become the next lead pastor of LCCC. I am excited about both transitions! I love Canaan and I love LCCC. I love both the Englewood and Lawndale neighborhoods. These congregations and communities have both walked with me as I not only became a pastoral leader but a husband, father and man of God. I will always support their growth, be connected to them and be looking out for their flourishing. I am excited about the future of both congregations and the continual Kingdom damage to be done in both communities.
CANAAN PRAYER LINE
Good news Canaan we have started a prayer line so that any prayer requests or live requests for prayer can be shared and prayed for. If you would like to make a prayer request or need prayer in a moment please call (773) 459-7856 or [email protected]
One of our pastoral staff will make sure the prayer request is shared with the pastoral staff, if desired, and covered in prayer.
If you are interested in volunteering for the prayer ministry please reach out to Evangelist Brooks as well.
MESSAGE FROM A MINISTER
Every Monday you will receive a "Message from a Minister" which are short, encouraging messages, devotionals or scriptures meant to help you apply God's word throughout the week. These devotionals will be delivered via Calling Post so be on the lookout for both the phone call and text message. If you would like to be added to the call list please email us at [email protected]
